CID is one of the most loved and longest-running Indian Television series that started in 1998 and ended in 2018 with 1547 episodes. The trio Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Daya Shetty as ACP Pradyuman, and Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya won people's hearts. Much to the fans' delight, the makers announced the second season of CID this year. As the release date for CID 2 is near, here is everything you need to know about the Indian police procedural TV series.
The much-awaited CID 2 will be released on December 21 and it will air every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. The weekends are now sorted for fans as their most favourite TV series is back.
Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava will reprise their roles as ACP Pradyuman, and Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya. Another cast Narendra Gupta will reprise his role as Dr. R. P. Salunkhe. Meanwhile, Dinesh Phadish, who played the role of Inspector Fredricks "Freddy", passed away in 2023.
While announcing the release date of CID 2, the makers shared a captivating promo where Daya can be seen breaking doors to catch criminals. Another promo showed a chilling face-off between Daya and Abhijeet. The clip showed ACP Pradyuman screaming "Daya", while Abhijeet shoots him with a gun and Daya falls off a cliff. Fans cannot wait to see what went wrong between Daya and Abhijeet who used to be good friends.
CID 2 will be available on Sony TV and SonyLIV. You can also watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
Meanwhile, in an interview with ETimes TV, Dayanand Shetty said that CID has given him recognition. He added that they have started shooting for CID, and it’s been hectic but exciting at the same time as the whole team has come back together after a gap of six years.
"We were not expecting that there would be a season 2, but audiences have been watching old episodes and asking for the show to come back. So the love of the audience and the response have been overwhelming," he said.
