Everyone's favorite TV show, CID, has returned with its 2nd season in 2024. It premiered on December 21 on Sony TV, SonyLIV, and OTTplay Premium. The show airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. Since the first episode of CID 2, fans have been showering praise on the iconic trio Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Dayanand Shetty. Now, the latest episode has been garnering fans' attention as the cast members paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor Dinesh Phadnis who was best known for his role as Inspector Freddy in CID.
CID 2 cast members recall late Dinesh Phadnis
The latest episode of CID 2 included a heartfelt tribute to the late actor Dinesh Phadnis who won hearts with his Inspector Freddy role in the show previously. In the episode, Ajay Nagrath who plays the character of Pankaj recalls Freddy. He said, "Freddy sir ki yaad aa gayi sir." Moments later, all the cast members remembered fond memories of Dinesh Phadnis. He further added, 'Woh hamesha crime scene pe sabko kaise hasate the na. Toh mujhe laga, main bhi thoda mood light kar du.' (He always used to make everyone laugh at the crime scene. So I thought of doing the same).
ACP Pradyuman replied, 'Pankaj, Freddy ko hum nahi bhule hai, lekin kaam toh karna padta hai.' (We did not forget Freddy but we gotta keep doing our work)
Fans' reactions
Reacting to the episode, one social media user wrote, "The episode was just Lit !!! Everything was just mind-blowing… The script writers.. what a climax Literally “CHEHRE PE CHEHRA” And at last Pankaj said it all… Cid Ko DID ki script chipka di."
Another commented, "You will be always remembered and will be always missed freddy sir.' A third fan penned, "Such a beautiful tribute this was. The fact that it was a bit unexpected after mentioning him at the start of the first episode made it even more special. #CID2."
"The best part about this show is they always treat every actor with utmost respect and love In the first epi they paid tribute to Freddy sir & Pradeep sir and in today's epi they mentioned freddy sir & shown some flashbacks of him," wrote another comment.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Phadnis passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 57, due to multi-organ failure following a heart attack.
Speaking about the cast, the show includes Shivaji Satam as ACP Pradyuman, Aditya Srivastava as Sr. Inspector Abhijeet, and Dayanand Shetty as Sr. Inspector Daya.
