Chunky Panday's daughter, Ananya Panday, made her Bollywood debut with the film Student of the Year 2 in 2019. After her first project, Ananya did a couple of movies. Last year, the actress featured in a web show, which was titled Call Me Bae. Ananya was appreciated for her performance in the Amazon Prime Video show. In a recent interview, the actress' father and Bollywood actor Chunky admitted that he initially didn't watch the series for three days.
In an interview with News18, Chunky Panday revealed the reason behind not watching his daughter Ananya's show for three days. The actor admitted, "Call Me Bae wasn’t my kind of a show. In fact, I didn’t watch it for three days." However, once he watched three episodes, the actor binged-watched the entire series. Chunky liked Call Me Bae to the extent that he watched the whole season twice.
"For the first time, I thought, ‘God, is this my daughter! Where did she learn to do this? I didn’t teach her.’ I’ve never done stuff like what she did in Call Me Bae. It’s different and difficult to shoulder so many episodes by a single actor. But she’s a hard-working girl. The best compliment an actor can receive is that yeh role toh iske liye likha gaya tha. But let me tell you, she isn’t like Bae in real life," shared Panday.
Chunky added that when people say that a certain character was tailor-made for an actor, it means the artist has done a good job.
Created by Ishita Moitra, Call Me Bae featured Ananya Panday as Bella Chowdhary. The actress shared screen space with Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, and Gurfateh Pirzada in the show. It was directed by Collin D'Cunha. In the series, Gurfateh was seen as Neel Nair while Varun played the role of Prince Bhasin. Vihaan, on the other hand, played the character of Agastya Chowdhary.
The web series was released on Amazon Prime Video on September 6, 2024.
