Chiyaan Vikram's Cobra trailer to release on this date

The much-awaited trailer from Chiyaan Vikram's upcoming film, Cobra, is all set to release on August 25. The actor made the announcement on his social media page today. Vikram wrote, "And it’s around the corner. #CobraTrailer #Cobra @AjayGnanamuthu @SrinidhiShetty7 @IrfanPathan @roshanmathew22 @7screenstudio @dop_harish #CobraFromAugust31 (sic)." The film, directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu is said to be a spy thriller. Cobra recently got the U/A certificate from the Censor Board.

While Srinidhi Shetty of K.G.F franchise fame, plays the leading lady in the film, Cobra marks the acting debut of former cricketer Irfan Pathan. He will be playing an Interpol officer. The supporting cast includes Miya George, Roshan Mathew, Sarjano Khalid, Padmapriya, Mohammad Ali Baig, Kaniha, Mirnalini Ravi, Meenakshi and KS Ravikumar. 

Music for Cobra is by AR Rahman, cinematography by Harish Kannan and editing by Bhuvan Srinivasan. The audio launch for the film was held recently and the soundtrack comprises five songs- Thumbi Thullal, Adheera, Uyir Urugudhey, Tharangini and Yele Ilanchingamey. This is the fourth time the ace composer is scoring music for a Vikram film after Pudhiya Mannargal, Raavanan and I. While Harish Kannan is handling the cinematography, editing is by Bhuvan Srinivasan.

Vikram's last theatrical release was Kadaram Kondan in 2019. His Mahaan released directly on OTT due to the pandemic. Cobra is Vikram's big theatrical release after a gap of three years and fans are awaiting the film. Vikram is said to be playing a mathematician in the film, who is involved in some high-profile crimes.

Cobra is Vikram's maiden collaboration with Ajay Gnanamuthu, who had ealier helmed Demonte Colony and Imaikka Nodigal. The film will be distributed in Tamil Nadu through Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The satellite rights for the film have been bagged by Kalaignar TV and the digital streaming rights have been acquired by SonyLIV. Cobra is bankrolled by Seven Screen Studio.
