Chithha out on OTT: Where to stream Siddharth and Nimisha Sajayan’s emotional drama

It’s finally here! Siddharth’s latest outing Chithha, which opened to rave reviews from the critics and audience, is now streaming on Disney + Hotstar. The film dropped on the OTT platform and made its digital premiere today (November 28) as scheduled. Chithha, helmed by SU Arun Kumar, has Nimisha Sajayan and Sahasra Shree in the lead.

What’s Chithha about?

Siddharth played the titular character Chithha (paternal uncle). The film is his second release of the year, after the debacle Takkar. Siddharth called Chithha, the film of the year, and wrote on his social media handle, "#CHITHHA on HOTSTAR We are thrilled to announce that your much loved and celebrated "FILM OF THE YEAR" SU Arun Kumar's #CHITHHA will be streaming on @disneyplushotstar from November 28th."

He also shared the reviews provided by some of the leading filmmakers including Mani Ratnam, Vetri Maaran, Pushkar and Gayatri, Rajiv Menon, H Vinoth, actors Kamal Haasan and Udhayanidhi Stalin. The film is being streamed in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

The Ulaganayagan, who made the title announcement of the film, had said earlier, “What I liked the most about Chithha is that instead of stressing upon the message, they casually say these things exist, so be careful. And it's not only for parents with girl children. The film teaches that we need to look at children as children, irrespective of their gender."

Siddharth had said that he was extremely proud and honoured that Kamal Haasan had revealed the film’s title. He had said, “I remember when we had just finished the censor certification of Chithha, Kamal Haasan sir was there and Arun and I spent a long time talking to him. When people whom we worship watch the film and talk about it, it's a unique feeling altogether."

The technical crew

Dhibu Ninan Thomas and Vishal Chandrasekhar have scored the music and the background score for the film. While Balaji Subramanyam has handled the cinematography, Suresh A Prasad has handled the editing. Chithha is bankrolled by Siddharth's production house, Etaki Entertainment.
