Vishwambhara is Megastar Chiranjeevi's upcoming film that has been in the making for over a year. Initially slated for release during Sankranthi 2025, the fantasy drama was postponed at the last minute to make way for Ram Charan's Game Changer, which hit screens on January 10, 2025.
Now, we at OTTplay have learned that the makers have decided to release Vishwambhara on May 9, 2025. An official confirmation is expected soon. This release date holds significance as it marks the anniversary of Chiranjeevi's biggest hit to date, Jagadeka Veerudu Atiloka Sundari, which was also released on May 9. This sentimental connection is the key reason behind the chosen date.
Vishwambhara has been directed by Vassitha, who made his debut with Bimbisara, a film starring Kalyan Ram in the lead. Following the success of Bimbisara, Chiranjeevi personally approached Vassitha, asking him to write a script, which ultimately led to the creation of Vishwambhara.
Some time ago, a teaser for the film was released, but it received lukewarm reactions as the VFX appeared subpar. According to rumors in industry circles, Chiranjeevi requested the makers to overhaul the visual effects, which has contributed to the delay in the film's release.
It has been a while since Chiranjeevi appeared on the big screen. His last film, Acharya, was a massive flop at the box office and faced severe criticism. This was followed by Bholaa Shankar, which failed to sustain beyond its first week in theaters. After taking a break, Chiranjeevi signed Vishwambhara, a project he hopes will mark his return to success.
With its revised release date of May 9, 2025, fans are eagerly waiting to see Chiranjeevi in a fresh avatar. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated film.
