Only months after announcing a collaboration for a Kannada film with Karunada Chakravarthy Shivarajkumar, Sathya Jyothi Films is set on widening its footprint in Sandalwood. On the occasion of Kannada star Kiccha Sudeep’s birthday, the banner formally announced their association, as his next film after the Kalaippuli S Thanu produced Max, which is currently in production. Sathya Jyothi Films’ as-yet-untitled film, tentatively dubbed Kichcha47, will be directed by Cheran, a development that has been rumoured for a while.
“We are very excited to announce our next film in Kannada with the one & only BAADSHAH @KicchaSudeep ♥️🙏 #Kichcha47 - Directed by the veteran Filmmaker @directorcheran,” read the post that was accompanied by a poster. Cheran and Sudeep have a long-standing association, as the latter had remade the former’s film Autograph in Kannada as My Autograph. The poster that was released for the announcement has the actor (presumably, as the face is not shown), seated on the floor, sporting a blood-stained (not his) shirt and holding a long knife, which goes to show that Cheran’s film will be an action entertainer.
Earlier today, it was thought that Sudeep’s proposed return to direction, King Kichcha, would be his next project, once he winds up Max. But turns out that the actor has other plans. Sudeep, we are told, has quite a bit of the Vijay Karthikeya directorial to finish up, and will also have to take on his hosting duties of Bigg Boss Kannada, when the reality show returns for its 10th season in October this year. If Bigg Boss Kannada follows the OTT season first and then TV season like last year, he is looking at having to be available for the weekend show shoot for at least 20-22 weeks, which will be difficult when he is directing a film.
Last evening, Kannada filmmaker R Chandru had also announced an upcoming film with Sudeep, which is not Kabzaa 2. In the past, the actor had spoken of multiple film possibilities with Vikrant Rona maker Anup Bhandari, namely Billa Ranga Baashaa, Ashwatthama and maybe even a Vikrant Rona 2. He had also hinted at a collaboration with Maanaadu maker Venkat Prabhu, but these were not listed on his slate of immediate commitments. For now, it’s Max, Cheran’s film, King Kichcha and Chandru’s next.
