Exactly a month after its theatrical release, debutant filmmaker Subhash Lalitha Subrahmaniam’s Charles Enterprises is gearing up for its release. Produced by the makers of Mukundan Unni Associates, the movie is crime-drama revolving around a Ganesha idol that gets stolen.
The film, which is also scripted by Subhash, has Urvashi, Balu Varghese, Kalaiyarasan, Sujith Shanker, Guru Somasundaram and Abhija Sivakala in pivotal roles.
What is the story of Charles Enterprises?
Ravi Kumarasamy (Balu Varghese) suffers from a rare form of night blindedness, which has a huge impact on his lifestyle as well as employment. He finds it hard to get a suitable partner and also keep a job. After a stranger enters his life and offers him a life-changing deal in exchange for a Ganesha idol that belongs to his religious mother, Ravi plots to steal it. Things take a turn after Ravi decides to go through with the act.
The movie has Urvashi essaying the role of the mother of Balu’s character, while Guru Somasundaram plays his father and a film aspirant. Kalaiyarasan, who had previously starred in Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Thankam and Tovino Thomas’ 2018 in Malayalam this year, plays the role of a Tamil youth, who helps Ravi in his endeavour.
The movie’s cinematography is by Swaroop Philip, while Achu Vijayan, who had helmed Shine Tom Chacko’s Vichithram, is its editor and co-producer. Though Charles Enterprises received lukewarm response after its theatrical release, the makers are expecting better feedback after its OTT release.
When and where to watch Charles Enterprises?
The movie is set to begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 16. The other Malayalam OTT release on June 16 is Indrans’ psycho-horror thriller Vamanan, which will be available to stream on Manorama Max and OTTplay Premium. The latter also has Baiju Santosh and Hareesh Kanaran in pivotal roles.
