Kartik Aaryan's Chandu Champion trailer was released earlier this month. The actor and his director Kabir Khan visited Gwalior for the grand trailer launch of the movie. Once Chandu Champion's trailer dropped on YouTube, Kartik's physical transformation and dedication to Kabir's directorial impressed everyone. Their film is based on the life of India's first Paralympic gold medalist, Murlikant Petkar. Speaking about his hard work for the film, Kartik told Mid-Day about learning three different sports from Chandu Champion.

In an interview with the tabloid, Kartik Aaryan said preparing for Kabir Khan's Chandu Champion was a thrilling challenge for him. "I had to learn wrestling, boxing, and swimming—three different sports. Working on this film has made me push my limits, but I embraced the hard work and discipline," he said.

For those who are unaware, Kartik trained in boxing for 14 months before the film went on floors in September 2023. Apart from that, the Bollywood actor worked with Arjuna Award-winning swimmer Virdhawal Khade for eight months to perfect the art of swimming. 

Kabir Khan on Kartik Aaryan's dedication to Chandu Champion

Earlier, Kabir Khan penned a heartfelt appreciation note for Kartik Aaryan on his Instagram handle. The filmmaker mentioned in his post that the story of Chandu Champion is inspiring and so is Kartik's journey to become the champion for the film. The director recalled he met Kartik when he put on weight for a role. 

"He had 39 per cent body fat. I told him that he had to portray an international level multi-disciplinary sportsperson. He just smiled and said “ I will do it Sir”. A year and a half later with no use of steroids - something that he was adamant about - we took this photo on set. Body fat 7 per cent!! I’m proud of you (sic)," mentioned Khan.

Meanwhile, Chandu Champion is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 14, 2024.
