Yesterday (August 23, 2023) was indeed an iconic and historic day for not just every Indian, but for the whole world. Yesterday was the day, when India became the first ever country to get a lander to land safely and softly near the surface of the earth’s moon. Yesterday, India created history with 'Chandrayaan 3'. No sooner did India achieve this extremely laudable feat, the whole world started lauding India and the ISRO scientists for the stellar success.
Not just the film stars across India, many of the politicians also congratulated the entire ISRO team. One such politician was the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. While congratulating the ISRO team, she got confused with filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and astronaut Rakesh Sharma. In her speech, she said, “Congratulations ISRO. Please land safely. We wish you all a safe journey. Earlier, you may know, the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had sent people to the moon. We were young at that time. When Rakesh Roshan landed on the moon, Indira Gandhi had asked him “How India looked from there. And they had said, Saare jahaan se achcha, Hindustan hamara”.
In no time, the video went viral. Not just that, the said video gave birth to many meme fests which mushroomed on social media. While one user wrote, “Pic collected from Mamata Banerjee office. Rakesh Roshan while working for ISRO, Rockets and Moon Landing”, he had also posted a collage of photographs that had the late Indira Gandhi, Rakesh Sharma, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Mamta Kulkarni, Ameesha Patel, Rakesh Roshan! Then, there was another user who had written, “Rakesh Roshan announces immediate retirement from Film Industry. Will venture into Space”.
Well, it just did not stop at this. One netizen wrote, “Hrithik Roshan after he came to know that his father Rakesh Roshan had once gone in space”, as he posted the famous hook step of the actor from the smash hit film ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai”. One user wrote, “Dear Mamata di, It was not Hrithik Roshan's dad 'Rakesh Roshan' who went to space in 1984 but it was 'Rakesh Sharma' from India. Just for your information.” There was another who wrote, Thank you Mamata didi, Under the able leadership of #MamataBanerjee congratulations to #RakeshRoshan on becoming the first Indian cosmonaut. #Chandrayaan3 #Mamata #Vikramlanding #PragyanRover”.
