In 2012, Bangla band Chandrabindoo dropped its last album, Noy (Nine). After 12 years, Upal Sengupta, Anindya Chattopadhyay, Chandril Bhattacharya, and others finally geared up for their 10th album. On Wednesday and Thursday, the band members will start recording for their new, yet-to-be-named album, which may be released later in September this year.

Upal, one of the lead vocalists and founding members of Chandrabindoo, told OTTplay, “It has been a while since we released our last album. We created many more songs since the release of Noy in 2012. And since we perform new songs on our shows regularly, our friends and fans have been insisting on compiling a new album. We planned but somehow could not make it happen. Recently, Anindya, Chandril and I decided to start recording the new songs we wanted to be in a new album.”

Besides Anindya, Upal, and Chandril, their guitarist Surojit Mukherjee, bassist Arup Poddar, drummer Rajshekhar Kundu, keyboardist Shibabrata Biswas, and percussionist Sourav Chatterjee will be at the recording. The members of Chandrabindoo want to keep the new songs under wraps till the release. According to sources, one of their hit songs by Chandril, Pradhanmantri Please, Amake Ekta Meye Dekhe Din, will be one of the 10 songs in the album. Earlier, they recorded three songs, including Pradhanmantri, for the album. Out of those three songs, two will be rerecorded. Furthermore, musician and friend of the members Joy Sarkar and some others will also be part of the new project.

Chandrabindoo will be completing 35 years in music. Besides live shows across India and abroad, the band has also composed music for films, including 033, Gosainbaganer Bhoot, and others. They started their journey in their college life and in 1997, their debut album Ar Jani Na was released. Chandrabindoo shot to fame with their second album Gadha and never looked back. After the success of their eighth album U/A, they curated the ninth album with different soundscapes. Noy has received lukewarm responses from their fans. Now they are all set to surprise their fans with their 10th album.
