Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Twitter reactions: Viewers laud film’s ‘trailblazing’ handling of sensitive subject

Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor’s first onscreen stint has certainly got fans talking. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui hit theatres on December 10, and already Twitter is clamouring with viewers opinions of the film.

Twitter users showered praises on Abhishek Kapoor’s latest directorial venture, marvelling at his ability to weave together the elements of drama, emotion and romance beautifully. While one user called it ‘the complete package’, another even referred to it as a masterpiece fit for the present day.

The film’s stars also received special mention for putting up stellar and authentic performances. Kapoor’s portrayal in particular was highlighted by many viewers, with some even calling it one of her best, while also applauding her for taking up a role that not a lot of actors would be willing to do.

But the sentiment that echoed through the opinions of most, if not all viewers is of how the film handled it’s difficult subject in a way that was sensitive and daring. The film talks about the story of a young cisgender man who falls in love with a transgender woman. Netizens lauded the film for tackling such a taboo subject and being able to weave an entertaining story out of it as well. They felt the progressive film will pave the way for more such works in the future.

In addition to Khurrana and Kapoor, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui also features Abhishek Bajaj, Kanwaljit Singh, Gourav Sharma, Gautam Sharma, Yograj Singh and Aanjjan Srivastav, among others.

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui will be made available to stream on Netflix sometime in January.
