Chanchal Chowdhury visited Kolkata for a day to attend the program of the Bangladeshi OTT platform Chorki's launch in India. Chanchal is equally popular in West Bengal owing to his films like Hawa and web series like Karagar.

Chanchal has played Mrinal Sen in the doyen’s biopic, Padatik, directed by Srijit Mukherji. He will act in the web series, Ganadebata, directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee. The ace actor from Bangladesh is getting several offers from Tollywood but is careful in choosing work. He said, “I want to be selective right now. I acted in many television serials at the beginning of my career. I do not want to lose the acceptability I got from the audience. I want to set a parameter.”

Chanchal said that he got many offers from Tollywood after Hawa was released but they did not suit him. “If the majority of my work is mediocre, then the audience will start ignoring me,” he said. Does he directly say no? Chanchal laughed, “Not always. Sometimes, I like a part of the story. Some works remain undone due to date problems.”

Chanchal put some conditions in choosing works. The story, the director, and his role are important there. “I am comfortable playing new roles. I hope my looks are new. I don't want to play the same roles again and again,” he said. Does he have some expectations from his projects? Chanchal said, “I do, and don't. Acting is like giving an examination. The audience will rate us.”

Karagar is Chanchal’s favorite series. Is there any plan to release the third season? Chanchal said, “The character of David is my favorite. I wish to bring him back, but the makers will decide finally.” Chanchal may work on several projects in Kolkata next year. But he doesn’t like staying here for long. He smilingly said, “I am a family man. There are 50 members in my family, including my eight brothers and sisters. I am a grandfather now. I can reach home after the shooting if I stay in Dhaka. It is not possible if I stay in Kolkata.” Chanchal's next film Monogamy waits to be released. He will start the shooting of his new web series after Durga Puja.
