Today was a very happening day for Challenging Star Darshan fans. For starters, they finally got to see a glimpse of the actor’s upcoming film Kranti, with the first look reveal. An hour later, Tharun Sudhir launched a theme poster for his next directorial with Darshan, tentatively called D56. The biggest news of the day, though, came much later.
As it turns out, on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, Chennai-based film production banner Abhishek Films announced a new project that will have Darshan in the lead. There were no other details about the project, except that Ramesh P Pillai will serve as producer.
At the moment, Darshan is shooting for his second film with director-composer V Harikrishna, called Kranti, with the makers of his earlier movie Yajamana. Thereafter, he will start work on Tharun’s D56, which is supposedly based on the life of freedom fighter Sindhura Lakshmana. D56 is their second collaboration after Roberrt. The actor was also committed to a historical called Madakari Nayaka, to be made by veteran filmmaker SV Rajendra Singh Babu. The director, though, has been busy making a film on the traditional bullock racing Veera Kambala, and there’s been no word on when his project with Darshan will take off. It is believed that the Abhishek Films’ production will likely be D57.
Last year, the banner had announced multiple films starring Prabhudeva, Nayanthara, Mohanlal, Trisha, Regina Cassandra, among others. The film with Darshan will mark their foray into Kannada cinema and comes as the actor celebrates 20 years of being a solo hero. His film Majestic, which propelled him to stardom, is set to be re-released in Karnataka on February 18.
