Challengers theatrical release date – Catch Zendaya’s tennis drama along with a sizzling love triangle on THIS day

Challengers marks the first sports drama by Call Me By Your Name fame and Suspiria fame director Luca Guadagnino. The film’s screenplay is done by novelist-playwright Justin Kuritzkes and features Zendaya in a unique avatar , juggling two different age personas of the same character.

Release date and trailer of Challengers

Challengers will enjoy a theatrical release in the United States on April 12, 2024. The film was initially slated to be released in September 2023, and had dropped its trailer accordingly on June 23. But then the SAG-AFTRA strike happened, its Venice Film Festival premiere had to be cancelled, and the rest is history. Since the film is produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer, it is expected that the film may end up on Prime Video, but there is no news as of yet.

Challengers features Zendaya, who is currently enjoying the high of doing projects like Dune 2 and Euphoria, as Tashi, a young Tennis prodigy. Mike Faist, of West Side Story fame stars as Art, her husband, and The Crown actor Josh O’Connor as Patrick, Tasha’s ex-boyfriend and Art’s ex bestie. The trailer of Challengers showcases Tasha as an ambitious and highly passionate tennis player who plays like a dream.

As her wings are just beginning to aid her flight, she soars and frolics with fellow mediocre tennis players, bestie duo Art and Pat. After having a sizzling night of copulation together, the three continue spending time together, with Art falling first for Tasha, but the latter having little concern for matters like love.

But when Tasha ends up badly injuring her foot for life, she has to forsake her dream and retire from playing. With Art by her side, with almost brutal revenge, Tasha becomes a highly coveted tennis coach and makes her husband to be a World Slam Champion. But when he gets stuck on a losing streak, he enters a low-level pro tournament, a Challenger event.
