Director Tinu Pappachan's latest movie Chaaver, which stars Kunchacko Boban in the lead role, has arrived in cinemas. He's one of the few directors in Malayalam cinema, who is trying to perfect the art of making mass entertainers. And he studied the intricacies of filmmaking and storytelling under maverick director Lijo Jose Pellissery.

His admiration for Lijo ran so deep that he paused the post-production of Chaaver to assist his mentor with the making of Malaikottai Vaaliban. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, Malaikottai Vaaliban is one of the most-awaited movies among the fans of Malayalam cinema.

The making of Malaikottai Vaaliban

As he was aware of the scale and scope of the movie, Tinu didn't want to miss out on being part of this massive production and the lessons he could learn from watching Lijo make it. However, he revealed that he was not involved in the post-production of Malaikottai Vaaliban on the account of Chaaver. He also noted that he often pays a visit to Lijo to find out what is happening with the movie.

In a recent interview, Tinu opened up about Malaikottai Vaaliban, adding to the growing expectations of fans. "Though I can’t reveal much, I’m confident that it’ll be an extraordinary theatre experience. The visual language that Lijo chettan has attempted in it is something we have not seen before," he told The New Indian Express.

At this moment, we know very little about Malaikottai Vaaliban. Mohanlal has sported a completely new look for the movie, in which he apparently plays the role of a wrestler. However, his look suggests, this movie could be a period drama.

In the meantime, Chaaver was released in theatres on October 5. Besides Kunchacko Boban, the movie also stars Arjun Asokan, Antony Varghese, Manoj KU, Anuroop, Sajin, Joy Mathew, Deepak Parambol, Arun Narayan, and Sangeetha Madhavan.
