In just over a month and a half, it will be time for your favourite stars to take over the cricket fields again. The 11thSeason of the popular Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is back, promising 4 weekends of great sporting action. 8 teams – Mumbai Heroes, Telugu Warriors, Karnataka Bulldozers, Chennai Rhinos, Punjab De Sher, Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Bengal Tigers and Kerala Strikers - will play 16 group stage matches, with the top 4 proceeding to the semi-final stage.
Nothing beats the thrill of watching stars play cricket live at a stadium, and this time, all the matches are being played across venues in India. If heading out and spending a delightful evening of T20 cricket is not a possibility, but you still want to see the matches, well, we’ll tell you where you can watch them and, free of cost.
The 2024 edition saw CCL tie up with JioCinema to live stream all matches on the platform with Hindi commentary. CCL 2025 will also be on the platform. There are strategic partnerships with multiple TV channels to bring the matches to audiences in different parts of the country. For instance, Star Suvarna will telecast all matches featuring the Karnataka Bulldozers with Kannada commentary, while Star Vijay Super will have all the Chennai Rhinos matches and so on and so forth. The full list of broadcast partners will be announced shortly.
Instituted by entrepreneur Vishnu Vardhan Induri in 2011, CCL began with 4 teams and eventually became 8 teams. The first two seasons were won by the Chennai Rinos, led by Arya, trumping Kiccha Sudeep’s Karnataka Bulldozers both times. By season 3, Sudeep guided his team to victory, and went on to defend the title the following year. Season 5 saw the emergence of the Telugu Warriors as a force to reckon. They won three editions on the trot, after which there were weather and pandemic disruptions a few years. 2023 was yet again the year of Akhil Akkineni’s Telugu Warriors, a streak that was broken in 2024, when Jisshu Sengupta’s Bengal Tigers finally took home the coveted cup.
