IF there is one thing that the teams of the Celebrity Cricket League have proven, it is that they take the game very seriously. Year-on-year, they’ve put on scintillating displays of cricketing action that could give even seasoned professional players a run for their money, whether it is in terms of batting and bowling figures or fielding acrobatics. That is the big draw for CCL – fans get to see their favourite stars and some good cricket too.
The 2025 edition of the tournament kicks off on February 8 in Bengaluru and ticket bookings have now been opened on ticketgenie.in. Prices start at Rs 100 and go up to Rs 1,000 for a day’s ticket, which gives one access to two T20 matches. Per log in ID, a maximum of 6 tickets can be booked at a time. Matches begin at 2 pm and 6.30 pm respectively.
The venues are as follows: Chinnaswamy Stadium – Bengaluru; Arun Jaitley Stadium – Delhi; Rajiv Gandhi international Stadium – Hyderabad; Barabati Stadium – Cuttack; and Lalbhai Contractor Stadium - Surat. The venue of the semi-finals and final is yet to be determined, but the buzz is that it will, in all probability, be in Mumbai.

If, however, you are unable to catch the matches live at a stadium near you, do not fret. The CCL matches are being broadcast live by Sony Sports 3 and will also be available live on Disney+ Hotstar. According to the revised schedule, Bengaluru, Delhi and Cuttack, get only 1 day of cricket, while fans in Hyderabad and Surat have most of the teams in attendance on 2 days each.
Jisshu Sengupta’s Bengal Tigers are the defending champions. But for the one time that the Mumbai Heroes won the title, the CCL trophy has more often than not remained in the south, what with the Telugu Warriors winning it 4 times, and the Karnataka Bulldozers and Chennai Rhinos twice each. Could this be the year that the Bhojpuri Dabanggs get their hands on the title? They’ve been 3-time semi-finalists and then came tantalisingly close in 2023, when they lost in the final to the Telugu Warriors. Well, let’s wait and watch!
