The 11th season of the popular Celebrity Cricket League – a T20 tournament played in Test format with each team playing 2 innings of 10 overs each – is set to begin on January 31. The league brings together showbiz and sports, as film stars, technicians, etc., put their best cricketing action on display. Spread over almost a month, matches in the Celebrity Cricket League are only scheduled for weekends – 1 on Friday, 2 each on Saturday and Sunday.
This time too, there are 8 teams – Karnataka Bulldozers, Mumbai Heroes, Bhojpuri Dabanggs, Telugu Warriors, Bengal Tigers, Chennai Rhinos, Kerala Strikers and Punjab De Sher. Each team plays 4 matches, and the top 4 proceed to the semi-final. Last year, the loser of the 1st qualifier had another shot at playing in the final in the second qualifier, against the winner of the eliminator. This year, going by the schedule that’s been announced, it looks like they are following a straight-forward semis-format between the top 4 teams.
