Tamil star Dhanush on Friday turned a year older and he commemorated his 40th birthday by unveiling the teaser of his most-awaited movie, Captain Miller . Dhanush has been quite upbeat about this movie as it seems to elevate his screen image and career to another level. Some of his biggest hits so far have been the movies where he played the 'boy next door' — Polladhavan, Velaiyilla Pattathari series, Thiruchitrambalam to his most recent Vaathi. However, in Captain Miller, he seems to take on the mantle of a freedom fighter, who takes on the might of the British Empire.

The teaser opens with a lookout notice announcing a reward for those who provide the correct tip-off leading to the arrest of Captain Miller, played by Dhanush. The notice claims that Miller is wanted for 'murder and dacoit.' Set against the backdrop of British India, the teaser provides an exhilarating glimpse into an explosive narrative about a man who paid the British Empire back in the same coin. It seems more than an outlaw, Miller was a freedom fighter for his own rights.

Our screen explodes with the visuals of the fiery hell that Millier and his company rain down on the British forces. The firepower in the teaser, in fact, feels overwhelming. It seems the premise is such that it doesn't allow any space for negotiation. It's a killing spree and Miller is at the forefront driving the battle with vengeance.

Not just for Dhanush, Captain Miller is also the biggest film in director Arun Matheswaran's career. Arun has established his unique visual and gritty visual style soaked in an eerie mood in his earlier movies Rocky and Saani Kaayidham. With his last two movies, Arun has unambiguously revealed his love for filming violent sequences and his skillset to do it with a lot of aesthetics. He doesn't shoot violent sequences just for the sake of it or use them as fillers in the narrative void. He uses violence to further the narrative and also allows his characters to express their raw emotions through it. And he might have given Dhanush his most intensely violent character yet in Captain Miller.

Bankrolled by Sathya Jyothi Films, Captain Miller also has a star-stuuded cast, inlcuding Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Priyanka Arul Mohan, and John Kokken.

Captain Miller is due in cinemas on December 15.
