The Candyman killer, who murders people in his signature slashing style, is all set to terrorize people in India on September 3. Candyman is the spiritual sequel to the 1992’s movie of the same name and is the fourth instalment in the Candyman film series.
The 1992’s Candyman is one of the few horror movies that is still considered to be a favourite among film lovers. The movie is based on the short story, titled The Forbidden, written by Clive Barker. The story narrates the legend of Candyman, a boogeyman who kills people who utter its name. The characters in it think twice before saying the word ‘Candyman’ five times in front of a mirror, upon the fear of getting attacked by it.
The upcoming slasher movie stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who portrays the role of a visual artist who gets obsessed by the Candyman legend. The movie takes off a decade after the first movie’s incidents, which ended with the Cabrini Towers of the Chicago neighbourhood getting torn off. The new and improved Towers, now unrecognizable, gets inhabited by the hip and millennial visual artist and his girlfriend. In an attempt to get inspired for new art, he drowns into the legend of Daniel Robitaille aka the Candyman and unleashes a series of violent and terrifying events.
The horror-slasher movie is directed by Nia DaCosta and produced under the banners of Universal Pictures, MGM Studios and BRON Studios. The screenplay of the film is done by Jordan Peele Win Rosenfeld along with the director.
