Byomkesh O Pinjrapol first look: Anirban Bhattacharya ditches dhoti in the new season

Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Bengali sleuth Byomkesh Bakshi seems to be the infallible hit formula in the Bengali entertainment industry. A number of leading directors made Byomkesh and a series of actors, including Abir Chatterjee, Jisshu U Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, and others played the sleuth on multiple occasions. 

On Hoichoi, Anirban has been playing Byomkesh for seven seasons. Now the platform is ready for its eighth season, Byomkesh O Pinjrapol. Directed by Sudipto Roy, the show is based on Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay’s Byomkesh O Chiriyakhana and will be dropped in April.  

On March 19, the first look of the show was released. In the poster, Anirban ditches the iconic dhoti and kurta and is seen in an olive green half-sleeve shirt and black trousers. The poster has a cool blue tone and it also says that April is when the show will be dropped. 

Like the other seasons, Ridhima Ghosh will be seen as Satyabati – Byomkesh’s wife. Meanwhile, there has been a change in the cast in Byomkesh’s friend Ajit. Suprobhat has been playing Ajit since season 4. However, in Season 8, Bhaswar Chatterjee will be seen as Byomkesh’s author friend.  

Meanwhile, Srijit Mukherji and his team are gearing up to direct season 9 of Byomkesh for Hoichoi. His Byomkesh will be based on Sharadindu’s Durgo Rohoshyo. The director has started recceing for the

Shooting. As per sources, Anirban will play Byomkesh, and Sohini Sarkar, who plays Satyabati on the big screen, will play Byomkesh’s wife in the ninth season. Who will play Ajit is not known yet.
