Right when Mohan Lal-Prithviraj Sukumaran’s dramedy Bro Daddy released on Disney+ Hotstar to encouraging responses, there were several reports that the film could be remade in other languages. However, there is growing buzz in Telugu film circles now that the remake of Bro Daddy is very much on and it was only pushed because of the actors’ other commitments.
If latest reports are to go by, Chiranjeevi has given his consent to star in the Telugu remake and will reprise the role of Mohan Lal. Kalyan Krishna, who helmed successful films like Soggade Chinni Nayana, Bangarraju and Rarandoi Veduka Choodham, is the top contender to direct the Telugu remake. A mix of interesting actors across various age groups are under consideration for other roles.
Trisha Krishnan, the Leo actress who also scored a hit with Ponniyin Selvan 2 recently, is expected to be paired opposite Chiranjeevi (originally played by Meena) for the second time after Stalin. Siddu Jonnalagadda and Sreeleela will most likely step into the shoes of Prithviraj Sukumar and Kalyani Priyadarshan respectively. If all goes well, the film could release in theatres as early as Sankranthi 2024.
The story revolves around a unique scenario where both the father and the son in the same family are expectant parents at the same time. How far can they go to suppress the truth? Prithviraj Sukumaran also directed the film which was primarily shot in Hyderabad during 2021. With terrific performances, ideal casting, the film got its due on OTT.
Much like Lucifer, Bro Daddy is another widely watched film by viewers across the country and if the reports around the remake prove to be true, it’ll be the second time Chiranjeevi will be seen in a remake of a Prithviraj directorial. Trisha was to play the female lead in Acharya as well but exited the project owing to creative differences. Will she finally reunite with her Stalin co-star again?
