Huge budget cut for Varun Tej's Matka amid Operation Valentine's setback? Here's what we know – Exclusive

Varun Tej is one of the most versatile actors in Telugu cinema and tries different concepts in his films. But sadly, some films of his do not click at the box office despite being an honest effort. The same happened to his latest release Operation Valentine. The Air Force drama was based on the Pulwama attack and Varun was seen as an Air Force officer.

Budget of Varun Tej's Matka slashed

The failure of the film has affected his new film badly. Going into details, Varun Tej is doing a period drama titled Matka. The film is set in the early 1960s to 1980s and is being produced on a massive scale by Vyra Entertainments. Now, the latest gossip in the film circles is that there has been a huge budget cut for Matka. But we have come to know from our sources that there is no truth in this and the film is being shot with the budget planned.

As Varun's last few films did not click, his market has also gone down a bit. So, keeping this in mind, the makers of Matka seem to have decided to produce Matka on a constrained budget, as per the news. One of the sources close to the film adds that these rumors are fake and Matka is a prestigious film being made on a solid budget and will superbly showcase the period era.

Varun Tej's role in Matka

Once again, Varun will be seen in a crazy role in this film. He plays a gangster in this film which is being directed by Karun Kumar who last made Palasa, a very critically acclaimed film that won several awards in Telugu states. The teaser of the film showcased rich visuals and Varun was showcased in a stylish note. 

Karun Kumar is known to make films on a hard-hitting note but he is trying something very commercial this time and has pinned all his hopes on Matka. After a brief break, Varun will soon start the shooting of this film in a specially erected set in Hyderabad. The makers are in plans to release the film by the end of this year.
