Production credits for Sarfira go to Aruna Bhatia of Cape of Good Films, Jyotika and Suriya's 2D Entertainment, which also produced the original film and is backing the remake as well, and Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Entertainment. The screenplay is by Sudha and Shalini Ushadevi, while Pooja Tolani contributed the dialogue. G.V. Prakash Kumar has composed the music.

Film synopsis and themes

Sarfira was announced with a powerful title that signalled her imminent arrival. The film is a tale about a company founder and an aviator who want to encourage regular people to dream big and follow their ambitions, no matter how insane they sound. Embodying the tenacity, resolve, and jugaad that are distinctly Indian, the underdog in the film defies a social and economic structure rooted in caste, class, and power dynamics.

Meanwhile, talking about Soorarai Pottru, the film's plot is based on the book Simply Fly, and it follows the journey of teacher's son Nedumaaran Rajangam (Suriya), who goes by the nickname "Maara" among his friends and family, as he faces the world's most capital-intensive industry in an effort to allow the average man to fly.

The theatrical release of Sarfira is scheduled for July 12, 2024.
