Bubblegum, the first film for Suma’s son Roshan Kanakala as a lead actor, where he’s paired opposite Maanasa Choudhary, is all set for release on December 29, right after biggies like Salaar and Dunki this weekend. Ravikanth Perepu, the director behind films like Kshanam and Krishna and his Leela, wields the megaphone for the love story that’s being promoted aggressively.
Ahead of its release next week, the entire team came together for a fun promotional video where Viva Harsha takes charge of a classroom, with the majority of the cast and crew seated as students. In the chat, the team reveals that Bubblegum is a youthful love story that’s sure to strike a chord with crowds. The camaraderie among the team is a true indicator of its fun quotient.
The filmmaker revealed that the story revolves around a youngster, a DJ who works under a musician while his father runs a chicken shop. A girl, who’s the daughter of an influential man in the city, likes his music and the duo falls in love. Packed with the right dose of romance, humour and action, Bubblegum showcases the lead couple’s relationship and the protagonist’s fight for self-respect.
The friends of the protagonist keep advising the male lead not to fall in love and equate the relationship to a bubblegum that’ll get messy with time. The tale turns into a fight between people of different classes and the screenplay appears to be racy. With the heavy star-driven action films and dramas around the corner, Bubblegum, much like MAD, has all the ingredients to click with the younger lot.
Roshan Konakala, understandably enthusiastic about his first film, is going all out to promote Bubblegum across Telugu states. The cast also comprises Kiran Macha, Anannyaa Akulaa, Harshvardhan, Anu Hasan, Jairam Eshwar and Bindu Chandramouli. Sricharan Pakala composes the music, while Suresh Ragutu is the cinematographer. Vishnu Kondur, Seri-Ganni and Ravikanth wrote the film.
