Just a day after BTS members V, Jungkook, Jimin, and RM began their South Korean military service, social media is abuzz with reports of Kim Taehyung's new collaborations. Umi, an American singer and songwriter, shared a video on Instagram, extending her best wishes to V for his military tenure.

The shared video, also featured by V in a live Q&A session on November 21, 2023, had ignited speculation about a potential musical collaboration between the two artists.

However, the singer's latest Instagram story in which V is seen recording a melody had been captioned, "Bye Tae. I’m wishing you the best in the Army."

She further added, "I promise to take care of our song and share your message while you are away."

With the emphasis on "our song" in the caption, fans quickly noticed that Umi appears to have confirmed a musical collaboration with BTS’ V.

In a recent interview with Riff Magazine, Umi revealed that her collaboration song with Taehyung is set to be released in January 2024. The song will be released under Umi's name, featuring V. The song's thematic complexities revolve around missing someone separated by distance, drawing parallels between Umi missing her grandmother in Japan and Taehyung missing his fans while serving in the military.

ARMY is already buzzing with excitement about the upcoming collaboration, especially during the period when the members are fulfilling their military duties.

About BTS:

Amidst their ongoing hiatus, all seven members of BTS are currently serving in the South Korean military, with plans to reunite as a group in 2025. In a heartwarming show of support, ARMY has taken the initiative to revive the group's older songs on the charts.

'Spring Day,' a track released by BTS six years ago, has achieved a remarkable milestone by surpassing Mariah Carey's iconic Christmas anthem, 'All I Want For Christmas Is You.' Despite the latter's annual resurgence in December, 'Spring Day' managed to secure the top spot on the US iTunes chart this year, marking its inaugural #1 position after six years. Chart Data, a prominent music chart tracker, announced the achievement on X (formerly known as Twitter), stating, “BTS’s ‘Spring Day’ has reached #1 on US iTunes for the first time ever."
