SonyLIV is set to captivate audiences in 2024 with a compelling array of original web series and unscripted shows. Judging from the platform's slate for the year, it's clear that the steamer is making a significant investment in regional content, especially in South Indian languages.

SonyLIV has more than 20 new original shows, both scripted and unscripted, to offer in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam this year. The slate of originals includes Theevinai Potru – Praise the Evil, Kuttram Purindhavan – Guilty as Charged, Kanyasulkam, Bench, Degree Days, Naalara Sangham – 4.5 Gang, Eyes, Unfair and Chembilammini Kolacase. At this time, we don't have a lot of information about these projects as they are still in various stages of production.

In the meantime, we have listed five highly-anticipated shows to look forward to on SonyLIV in 2024. All these shows can also be accessed through OTTplay Premium .

Cheran’s Journey:

Filmmaker Cheran is making his OTT debut with a web series titled Cheran’s Journey. It features an ensemble cast led by Sarath Kumar. Actors Prasanna, Aari Arujunan, Kalaiyarasan and Divyabharathi have played key roles in the series, which is set to premiere on the platform on January 12. Based on the trailer, the series revolves around an interview for a coveted job. Four ambitious individuals with a great appetite for cut-throat competition clash in a corporate arena for the job that promises to solve all their problems.

Brinda:

Actor Trisha is foraying into the world of OTT with Brinda, an original Telugu investigative web series. She is playing the role of a high-ranking officer in the Andhra Police Force. The showrunners had earlier revealed a short glimpse of Trisha's cop look from the series, which is helmed by new director Surya Vangala. The series also stars Sai Kumar, Amani, Indrajith Sukumaran, Ravindra Vijay, and others in the supporting cast. The premiere date for Brinda is not yet announced.

Lords of the Deccan:

Actor-producer Rana Daggubati is set to bring a mythological epic to the small screens with Lords of the Deccan. Rana's company Spirit Media will produce this web series in association with Amar Chitra Katha. It will explore the history of the Chalukyas dynasty, which shaped southern India for centuries.

Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalva:

Again, SOS - Straight Outta Sunnambu Kaalva, will mark the digital debut of another leading filmmaker from the Tamil film industry. Director Mari Selvaraj is the showrunner for this upcoming Tamil series. While Mari will oversee the entire creative process in setting up the series, it will be written and directed by Suriya Raj. The series is expected to have strong political undertones akin to Mari's movies. The series will narrate the struggles of two generations of hip-hop dance groups, who set out to build a dance studio in Sunnambu Kaalvai.

Indraprashtham:

Indraprashtham is touted as a high-voltage political drama based on real-life events. Director Deva Katta is writing and directing the drama, which is reportedly based on the times and struggles of former Chief Ministers Chandrababu Naidu and the late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
