Bramayugam teaser review
The stunning teaser of Bramayugam hints that director Rahul Sadasivan is back with yet another unique horror film, which is going to change Malayalam audiences’ perception of the genre. The teaser begins with the visual of a man, who is seen standing in front of an ancient, crumbling ‘Padippura’ (main entrance). “Once you step through the gateway of this mansion, you will find the river, plains, and mountains, nowhere else but here,” says the narrator hinting that it is the entrance into a magical world, as Arjun Ashokan’s character makes an entry into the other side.
Later, he is seen exploring the mansion and its secrets, while the characters played by Sidharth Bharathan, Manikandan R Achari, and Amalda Liz are introduced. Finally, we meet the character played by Mammootty, a mysterious, aged man with grey hair, and beard, and lots of smallpox marks on his face, who welcomes us to his Mana (mansion) with a wicked smile. Notably, the teaser never reveals the names of any of the characters and successfully builds a sense of mystery around them and the narrative.
From the Bramayugam teaser, it is evident that Mammootty is getting ready for yet another major experiment in his five-decade-long acting career. The character introduction of the veteran actor suggests that he is indeed playing a powerful antagonist in the film. The teaser, which reminded us of old comic books and horror films like Bhargavi Nilayam and Vayanadan Thamban, promises a cinematic experience that will be rich in its technical aspects and acting department.
Interestingly, the teaser also hints that the film might be released in a black-and-white format. If this speculation turns out to be true, Bramayugam is going to be one of the finest horror experiences Malayalam cinema has ever witnessed. However, we will have to wait for an official word from the makers of the Rahul Sadasivan directorial to know more about the same.
