Mammootty, the megastar of Malayalam cinema, is going through an exciting phase in his career with back-to-back unique projects. The veteran actor, who successfully reinvented himself after a long pandemic-induced break, has stunned audiences with his impeccable transformations on the silver screen. Mammootty is now winning the internet with his new look as Kunjamon Potti in the upcoming horror thriller Bramayugam.

As reported earlier, the movie, which is helmed by Bhoothakaalam director Rahul Sadasivan, is slated to hit the big screens on February 15, 2024. In a recent interview with Radio Asia, the talented director opened up about his ambitious project. Interestingly, he also revealed the three factors that influenced Mammootty to sign Bramayugam.

Mammootty said yes to Bramayugam because of THESE factors

According to director Rahul Sadasivan, Mammootty said yes to Bramayugam after the first narration itself. Interestingly, there were just 3 things that the team said while pitching the film to the megastar: a black-and-white film, set in a different period, and that he would be playing a unique character. The veteran actor, who has always been open to experiments, was impressed with the storyline and these three important factors about the film.

Mammootty’s decision to be a part of Bramayugam came as a big surprise to the team as well as his industry colleagues. Asif Ali, the popular actor who was originally supposed to play a key role in the film, recently revealed that he never thought that the megastar would say yes to Bramayugam. In a recent interview, Asif also revealed that the veteran actor will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the film.

From the official teaser that has won the internet, one can see that Mammootty plays Kunjamon Potti, a mysterious man who belongs to an aristocratic Brahmin family. In his chat with Radio Asia, director Rahul Sadasivan confirmed that the character is in no way connected with the Aithihyamala or Kadamattathu Kathanar stories, as suggested by the rumour mills. However, we will have to wait until the release of the Bramayugam trailer, which is slated for February 10, to find out more about the film and its plot.
