Bramayugam, the period-horror thriller that marked the first onscreen collaboration of Mammootty and talented filmmaker Rahul Sadasivan, hit the big screens on Thursday, February 15, 2024. The highly anticipated project had a wide release in Kerala with over 350 screens, while it emerged as the megastar’s biggest overseas release so far. As reported earlier, Bramayugam has opened to rave reviews and has been receiving immense love from the audience.

Despite being an experimental film made in the black-and-white format, the Mammootty starrer has made a massive opening at the box office and has emerged as the second biggest opener in Malayalam cinema in 2024. As per the recent updates, the Rahul Sadasivan directorial has now got a massive number of extra shows across both Kerala and overseas centres.

Bramayugam gets 100 extra shows in Kerala

Recently, the makers of Bramayugam took to their social media handles and confirmed that the period horror thriller has a massive number of extra shows across the releasing centres across Kerala and overseas countries. Interestingly, around 100 extra night shows have been added to the Mammootty starrer in Kerala alone, considering the increasing audience rush. In that case, it is safe to assume that the period horror thriller might surpass its opening-day collection with the Day 2 collection.

If things proceed at the same rate, an extraordinary first weekend box office collection is on the cards for the movie, which is receiving immense love equally from non-Malayalam-speaking audiences. Despite being a purely experimental film, Bramayugam has clearly succeeded in impressing the cine-goers with its brilliant making, top-notch technical aspects, and most importantly, the stellar performances by Mammootty, Arjun Ashokan, and Sidharth Bharathan. The increasing word-of-mouth publicity also suggests that the Rahul Sadasivan directorial will soon emerge as a blockbuster.

Bramayugam on OTT

As reported earlier, Bramayugam is set to have its OTT release on the renowned OTT platform Sony LIV after its theatrical run. The Mammootty starrer has all the potential to receive even wider acclaim after its digital release. The unmatchable detailing in the making and the layered storytelling make this Rahul Sadasivan directorial a perfect cinematic experience to revisit again and again. The official OTT release date of the movie is expected to be announced by the first or second week of March 2024.
