Director Rahul Sadasivan asserted during a press conference promoting his upcoming mystery horror film Bramayugam that it lacks the terrifying sequences found in his previous film Bhoothakaalam. He went on to say that this is a distinct subgenre within the larger category of horror. Bramayugam, starring Mammootty, Arjun Ashokan and Sidharth Bharathan in lead roles, will release on February 15.

The director stated that while he enjoys watching films across all genres, he currently loves working in the horror genre. The pacing of Horror is beautiful in and of itself. We can play around with the story and the characters and concentrate on how to make it unique, even though the formula might remain the same," he said.

Rahul further asserted that rather than building up any buzz for the movie, the filmmakers concentrated on releasing eye-catching glimpses, posters, and teasers. "We only considered whether people would want to see Mammukka play such a role when we released the first look of his character," he continued.

When discussing how he told this story to Malayalam megastar Mammootty, the director said he did so in 20 minutes, starting with just a few words and introducing Mammukka as the protagonist of a mystery horror movie in black and white. "He requested to see a test shot and was very excited. Mammukka had a good understanding of the project and format," Rahul said.

The director clarified that Mammootty's laughter in the movie represents the Age of Madness, which is the main theme of the movie. He characterised it as a work of fiction with an unspecified time setting.

Rahul also expressed his enthusiasm for the days he spent filming, saying he looked forward to getting up every day and shooting a new sequence. “Every movie has its own set of difficulties. But nothing would be difficult if you had a strong production company, skilled actors, and excellent technical support," he continued.
