After a long wait and a lot of anticipation, the Brahmastra trailer was unveiled for a global audience today. The Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt movie boasts of fantastical, meta physical elements, larger than life VFX effects and a big cast that has come together to tell this story about ancient "astras" in a contemporary setting.
Ranbir is introduced as Shiva, who is orphaned at birth and grows up to be a DJ and learns to live life to the fullest. He eventually meets Isha (Alia) and they form an inseparable connection. The trailer also unveils him realising his powers, his special relationship with fire, an element that never harms him.
Amitabh Bachchan plays his mentor, Guru, who teaches Shiva how to master these newfound powers. All is not well, however, in true Bollywood fashion, Shiva also has enemies, one of them being Junoon (Mouni Roy). Nagarjuna Akkineni is a part of the movie as well as an archaeologist.
Brahmastra is set to release in multiple languages, namely Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on September 9.
Twitter was rife with excited reactions to this movie which seems like it will give competition to the visual and storytelling spectacles that Hollywood so often churns out. They also wondered whether the feature will live up to the impressive trailer. Some jokes about the movie also followed.
