Parambrata Chatterjee has been juggling his national and Bengali projects with elan. This Puja, his Bengali directorial work Boudi Canteen is all set to be released. The trailer of the film that features Subhahree Ganguly, Anashua Majumdar, Soham Chakraborty and Parambrata in the lead was dropped recently.
Boudi Canteen is a story of a couple, played by Parambrata and Subhashree, who ventures into a business. Subhashree has a knack for cooking. It is her love for the culinary extravaganza that leads her to choose an extraordinary life. However, besides Subhashree’s career track, the trailer reveals several other conflicts – insecurities, judgements and others. The trailer hints at Anashua being Subhashree’s mother-in-law and they possess different worldviews. Meanwhile, Parambrata is initially portrayed as a cooperative husband but the trailer questions his insecurities. While Soham is seen in the trailer, his character is not revealed much. The trailer also puts across a number of questions – if business is an unsuitable profession for Bengalis or if women’s independence is defined from men’s perspective and so on.
The film is based on celebrity chef Asma Said Khan, who hails from the City of Joy and currently lives in the UK. Asma spent her childhood in Kolkata and now she has multiple restaurants in the UK. She has a battalion of women chefs working with her. By her admission, she does not hire trained chefs but takes regular women who cook on board.
