After the massive success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol has no intention of taking the back seat. The actor plans to stick to large-scale action comedies in the future and just recently revealed his next film with Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir Khan. While production on Lahore, 1947, based on a highly acclaimed Punjabi drama by Asghar Wajahat, is set to begin in December or January, Sunny is deep into negotiations for a third action spectacle, Border 2.
Ayushmann Khurrana joins the popular franchise:
The production of Border 2, the follow-up to Sunny, JP, and Nidhi Dutta's 1997 military thriller, began in August, according to Pinkvilla. With the addition of Ayushmann Khurrana, the already massive cast of Border 2 has grown even larger. The Dream Girl 2 actor is in early talks to star alongside Sunny Deol in JP Dutta's ambitious military drama Border 2. Ayushmann will co-star with Sunny in the film, which will be produced on an unprecedented scale by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta. Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta, who want to make "India's biggest war film," will produce the movie.
Anticipation for Border 2
Talking about the same, a source told the entertainment portal that Border 2 is a major undertaking, and its announcement is anticipated to cause as much buzz as Gadar 2's. After weeks of talks between the producers and Ayushmann, they seem to be getting close to an agreement. The source added that Ayushmann, who has primarily been a part of quirky social dramas, is thrilled to embark on this new kind of journey, teaming up with Deol for the first time.
While Ayushmann has been confirmed for his role in Border 2, the producers are still in discussions with a number of other actors about playing other significant roles with Sunny. The screenplay is being written now, and production on the film will start in the middle of next year. Dutta and his crew are hard at work, getting ready to film what they hope will be the most epic Indian military movie ever.
