The producer, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Maidaan, revealed that he is thinking about the sequel despite the odds and, in fact, is in touch with several contributors for the offer. He also shared when fans can expect more about the sequel to the Anil Kapoor-Sridevi starrer cult classic very soon.
Boney Kapoor to make Mr. India 2?
It’s been years since speculations about the sequel to the critically acclaimed film Mr. India have been doing the rounds on the internet. From time to time, there are updates on whether the movie is in the works or not. However, the recent update has been shared by the producer of Mr. India himself, Boney Kapoor. In a recent conversation, Boney Kapoor revealed that his mind is still stuck on making Mr. India sequel.
He further added that his crew members disapproved of the second installment because of so many pivotal actors’ deaths, including his wife Sridevi, who played the female lead in the 1987 superhero sci-fi film. Even the iconic villain Mogambo (Amrish Puri) has passed away.
“Most of my crew members feel that we should not attempt Mr. India 2 as Sri (Sridevi) is not there anymore, Amrish Puri is not there anymore, Satish (Kaushik) is not there anymore, whereas Shekhar (Kapur, who directed the classic movie) has gone to a different world. But this chip of mine in the brain has Mr. India 2 somewhere,” Boney Kapoor told Pinkvilla.
When to expect Mr. India 2?
According to the reports, Mr. India sequel will be backed by Boney Kapoor and Zee studio. During the same conversation, producer Boney Kapoor shared that he has been getting many offers for the sequel. In fact, he revealed that a big offer came, but more will be revealed in a year or two. “A studio has made a big offer to us and said that there are no criteria for the budget. So, the studio, Zee, and I will make the film together. Perhaps, in a year or two, you will hear more about Mr. India 2,” Boney added.

On the work front, Boney Kapoor is currently gearing up for the Ajay Devgn-starrer Maidaan, which is slated to release theatrically on April 10.
