Yogi Babu, who is one of the integral aspects of many Tamil films, seldom does movies that have him playing the lead. Shan's Bommai Nayagi, which was released in theatres on February 3, was one such attempt. Neelam Productions and Yaazhi Films have bankrolled the project which garnered good reviews from critics.
The family drama deals with the bonding between a father and a daughter. The former, played by Yogi Babu, is an illiterate who hails from an underprivileged community. He has pinned hopes on his daughter and believes that she would bring fortunes in his life.
However, his school-going daughter goes missing despite him and his wife ensuring her safety. Despite putting the best foot forward, he fails to find his daughter and decides to file a police complaint. But many of his acquaintances try convincing him not to go the legal way as it might harm the child's future.
HariKrishnan Anbudurai, Subatra, Srimathi, GM Kumar, Aruldass and Lizzie Antony essay pivotal roles in the movie which has music by Sundaramurthy KS. Athisayaraj R and Selva RK have handled cinematography and editing respectively for the film which has dance choreography handled by Vinoth Kumar R and Salsa Mani.
Bommai Nayagi is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. The film will drop on Zee5 on March 10. An official announcement on the same has been made by the digital platform. The film was Yogi's third outing this year, with Varisu and The Great Indian Kitchen being the other two.
The actor currently has around two dozen films in his kitty, including big ticket projects like Jailer and Maaveeran. A few of them have him headlining the story.
