Bombay HC pushes release of Netflix’s The Indrani Mukerjea Story; details on special screening here...

The Bombay High Court has pushed the release of Netflix’s upcoming true crime documentary, The Indrani Mukerjea Story: Buried Truth. The documentary is based on the infamous Sheena Bora case. In a recent court order, the makers were asked to hold a special screening for the judges and CBI ahead of its release on the streaming platform. The Central Bureau of Investigation had moved the court for a stay order on the series, but the plea was overruled.

Netflix to arrange a special screening of The Indrani Mukerjea Story

Netflix’s latest true crime documentary, ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story', has landed in trouble ahead of its release date, February 23. On Thursday, the Bombay High Court placed a postponed order in its recent hearing and asked Netflix to halt the screening of the web series that is based on the 2012 Indrani Mukerjea and Sheena Bora. This is until the next hearing on February 29.

There will be a special screening of the true crime documentary for the court judges as well as Central Bureau officers.

CBI's plea to the court

In its objection plea, the Central Bureau of Investigation asked the court for a stay on the web series, citing the adverse effects on the ongoing criminal case investigation. It also stated that the documentary might contribute to the case's outcome and people's perceptions.

On Tuesday, the CBI’s plea was rejected by a special court; the investigators then moved to the High Court.
