Razakar, a historical drama set in the 1930s, 40s, documenting the Razakar movement, is gearing up for a theatrical release. Bobby Simha, Vedhika, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Prema, Indraja and Makarand Deshpande play the lead roles in the film produced by Guduru Satyanarayana (under Samarveer Creations) and directed by Yata Satyanarayana.
A new song from the film titled Pothugadda was unveiled on Tuesday. Pothugadda (whose music is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo) is sung by Bheems Ceciroleo and Swathi Reddy (US-based singer) and has lyrics by Suddala Ashok Teja. At the song launch event, Bobby Simha shared why he’ll be indebted to the makers for being a part of a film like Razakar.
“We shot Pothugadda Meedha with 600 artistes on the same floor and all of us experienced similar pain through the lyrics, rendition and the music. I understood the historic value behind the film with the director later. It made me realise the pain in our history, the challenging circumstances under which our ancestors grew up. This is a story that this generation deserves to know,” Bobby Simha said.
He shared that Swarna (master) composed the dance moves, keeping his body language in mind and his difficulties in understanding the slang of the times. “The art director recreated the atmosphere of 1930s and 40s through the sets, it was new for me and he has done a fabulous job. Pothugadda Meedha made us forget lunch during shoot, it’s a special and emotional song. I’m honoured to work in this film.”
Kushendar Ramesh Reddy cranked the camera for the film while Thammiraju is the editor. Thirumala M Thirupati is the art director for Razakar, while the crew also comprises stunt directors Naba, Navakanth, VFX supervisor DV Ramnathan and costume designer Pooja Vangala. Aditya Music has acquired the audio rights. The release date of Razakar will be announced soon.
