Blue Beetle, which hit the big screen in August this year, has now made its way to OTT platforms. The DC Superhero film is now available to rent on both Prime Video and BMS Stream. The film can be rented for Rs. 499 on both the OTT platforms. Angel Manuel Soto is the film's director, and Xolo Maridueña plays both the title character and his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.

Jaime Reyes's journey to Blue Beetle

In the film, Jaime Reyes, a man on the lookout for his place in the world, discovers some ancient biotechnology that transforms him into the superhero Blue Beetle and completely alters his fate.

Jaime Reyes, freshly minted from college and brimming with plans for the future, returns to his native Puerto Rico to find things have changed significantly. Jaime is on a quest to figure out his place in the world when he stumbles into the Scarab, a relic of alien biotechnology. Jaime's life is irrevocably altered when he is unexpectedly selected by a scarab to become its symbiotic host and endowed with a fantastic set of armour capable of exceptional and unpredictable powers, transforming him into the Super Hero Blue Beetle.

Box Office performance of Blue Beetle

The worldwide total for Blue Beetle was $125.3 million as of September 27, 2023. This included $70.3 million in the United States and Canada and $55 million from other areas. The DC Extended Universe's lowest-grossing film

Blue Beetle and Strays were both distributed in 3,871 theatres across the United States and Canada, with the former expected to earn $25–32 million. Thursday night screenings contributed $3.3 million to the film's opening day gross of $10 million. At the box office, it opened with $25 million, making history as the first film to outgross Barbie. Of the opening weekend audience, 39% were Hispanic and 66% were male. David Zaslav, CEO and president of Warner Bros., has stated that Tropical Storm Hilary is to blame for the disappointing domestic box office performance.
