Blank OTT release date: When and where to watch Kannada psychological thriller surrounding the number 13

Engineer-turned-filmmaker S Jay’s debut film, Blank, which has Krishi Thapanda, Suchendra Prasad, Poornachandra Mysuru, Bharat Hassan, Rash Malik and Prashant Siddi, among others, on its cast, is a psychological thriller surrounding the number 13.

According to the filmmaker, the story of the suspense thriller has been woven around the superstitions and myths about the number 13, like how, for instance, most commercial high-rise buildings do not have a 13thfloor, in the sense that the 13th is assigned as the 14thinstead, and so on and so forth. Friday the 13 also has a lot of superstitions around it and as luck may have it, Jay’s film is getting its OTT outing on a Friday, which is also the 13th. The film is also an exploration about reality and dreams.

“Blank is a film that is tailor-made for audiences who like experimental cinema. It does not have any of the standard tropes one would associate with commercial cinema and belongs to a different genre, although it has elements like drama, romance, suspense, etc. This is a film that will make audiences think and deliberate on each scene. There are multiple plot points, which will make audiences wonder what is going on and that is the strength of the film,” Jay had said at a press briefing prior to the film’s theatrical outing. The debutant added that Blank also has shades of the horror genre and will scare audiences at some point.

Blank will be available to stream starting today on Voot Select as its Friday Digital Premiere movie. The film, which has music by newbie composer Shri Sastha, has a voiceover by Garuda Ram, who has also sung a song for it.

Producer NP Manjunatha Prasanna has been quoted as saying that he has made a different film that is rich in content.
