Fans of the K-pop group BLACKPINK, known as Blink, have received a response from the group's agency, YG Entertainment. However, the statement did not provide the clarity they were hoping for. In an announcement shared with various media outlets, the agency addressed ongoing negotiations with BLACKPINK members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa regarding their exclusive contracts.
"We are negotiating with the artists regarding their exclusive contracts. The final outcome will be revealed through the document regarding major management issues related to investments".
Previous updates on YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK’s contract renewals consistently mentioned that negotiations were still in progress. This time, the agency has specified that the ultimate announcement will be made through formal documentation. Despite this, fans are apprehensive about the potential disbandment of the group, fueled by rumours suggesting that one or more members might leave the label to pursue new careers elsewhere
Adding to the speculation, there are indications that Alice Kang, Lisa's long-time manager, might have left the agency. According to her LinkedIn profile, she served as a senior manager at YG Entertainment for over five years, with her tenure seemingly concluding in October 2023.
Similarly, Alison Chang, Jennie's manager, also updated her LinkedIn profile, suggesting her departure from YG Entertainment after over four years of service.
While these developments do not confirm the members' departure, they contribute to fans' concerns, especially considering that their contracts reportedly expired on August 7 of the current year, and no conclusive decision has been reached as of yet.
