Birsa Dasgupta starts his new national web series with Divyanka Tripathi

Director Birsa Dasgupta is busy shooting yet another Hindi web series. He has previously directed the Zee5 web series Black Widows. While he refused to divulge details of the new project, shooting of the series is taking place in different locations in Delhi. As per reports, it is a story of the ’90s, dealing with the life of a female magician. Hindi TV’s popular face Divyanka Tripathi plays the protagonist. Actors like Namit Das, Parmeet Sethi and Jaaved Jaffrey are working in this series.

Birsa directed the film Mukhosh in 2021 in Tollywood, casting Anirban Bhattacharya as the protagonist. After that, the production house did not pair with Birsa for any project. To make the sequel of the Birsa-directed movie Bibaha Abhijan, the production house initiated talks with director Sayantan Ghoshal, because Birsa was busy at that time. However, the shooting of that film has not yet started due to some last-minute decision changes. Birsa is supposed to direct a film with another production house, where Ankush and Oindrila and other actors are supposed to work.

Birsa’s Black Widows has received mixed reviews from the audience. The series features Raima Sen, Parambrata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee.  

Interestingly, several Tollywood directors have started working on national web projects. Srijit Mukherji is expected to direct a series. Both Debalay Bhattacharya and Pratim D Gupta have finished the shooting of a Hindi project each. Birsa’s new series will add another one.
