It’s going to be a twin treat for Mammootty and Mohanlal fans in 2025! The superstar duo will be seen sharing screen space in not just one, but two big-budget films in the coming year. While the Big Ms of Malayalam cinema had already started shooting for Mahesh Narayanan’s film in Sri Lanka earlier this month, they will also now be part of Amal Neerad’s next after Bougainvillae, as per reports.
Before fans begin to speculate the nature of the project, whether it’s the long-rumoured sequel to Big B aka Bilal or whether it would see Mammootty’s character from Amal’s debut film going up against Mohanlal’s Sagar Alias Jacky, which the Varathan filmmaker had also directed, an official confirmation is still awaited.
For all you know, it could be an entirely new project, befitting the stardom of the two actors, and also the expectations that come from an Amal Neerad movie. The movie will apparently be jointly produced by Mammootty Kampany and Aashirvad Cinemas. Antony Perumbavoor had previously hinted this, but there was a lot of buzz that it would be a Mammootty cameo in L2: Empuraan.
Now, even if that happens, it seems that the duo will come together for Amal’s film, which has also been long rumoured. Currently, Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban are set to begin the second schedule of the Mahesh Narayanan film that will be in Sharjah. Mohanlal is set to join the team after he wraps up the final schedule of L2: Empuraan.
The upcoming Amal Neerad film is only expected to go on floors after Mammootty completes shooting for Mahesh’s movie, which could only be by the second half of 2025. As per reports, the film will have locations in the UK, Azerbaijan, and Thailand, along with Vizag, Hyderabad, Kochi and Delhi. The entire shoot will span 150 days.
Mohanlal, who has his directorial debut Barroz set for release on December 25, will next join the schedule of Sathyan Anthikad’s Hridayapoorvam, which also has Sangita Madhavan Nair and Aishwarya Lekshmi as part of the cast.
