The terms ‘bakra’ and ‘Cyrus Broacha’ are as synonymous as chalk and cheese, night and day, right and wrong and other like terms. For the longest time on the television, Cyrus Broacha made a living by making bakra of others in the most unassuming way possible. Armed with a poker face and an extremely seriously funny sense of humour, no one ever knew who is next in the line to be his bakra! Well... that’s Cyrus Broacha for you. It’s the same Cyrus Broacha who is now a part of the controversial yet addictive reality show ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’.
Hey Cyrus! Are there butterflies dancing in the stomach?
Lots of them. At my age, I haven’t done anything of this sort before. Hence, I am definitely a bit nervous. ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’ is the ultimate reality show where you are stuck with people you don't know. And from what I gather, I don't know a single person. So, it's like literally starting from scratch, going to a new city and making your first acquaintance and taking it from there.
What does the term ‘bakragiri’ mean to you?
It’s a soft mischief where nobody gets hurt or humiliated very badly. People should not take it to the extreme bakra-giri.
Imagine a situation inside the 'Bigg Boss OTT 2' house where y ou had to backstab that person who had trusted you totally. Will you do that?
It depends on the price. Everything depends on price in life. I am loyal, but I cannot guarantee you that. If you had to survive in the game by eliminating the other person, let it be so. Otherwise, you are not playing the game also! It's unfair also.
Are you carrying any good luck charm with you inside the house? Who gave you that?
I have got my lucky chaddi from the year 1989 when I got into my college cricket team. I have kept that with me. That’s my lucky charm. I need to tell you that I haven’t washed it till now. That’s about 34 years of memories!
Have you followed the first season of Bigg Boss OTT 2?
Just for a few minutes here and there, when Karan Johar was the host. But I believe this year is going to change all that this year is going to be a blockbuster year.
Did you ever manifest or imagine yourself to be a part of the show in its second season itself?
I had been asked many times. Couple of times we almost had a better talk. Most of the time, I avoided it out of fear. I basically decided not to do this, whichever avatar I am in.
So, what is it about this year that actually made you say yes? Is it the honey or the money?
Obviously, a little bit of the money doesn't hurt! It’s not that much money. You have to earn the money when you can. This time round, the people who came to me were very nice and sweet. And they did not push me in a room and beat me with sticks like last time. So that was one consideration. Secondly, I just like the idea of just challenging situations now to do something different because I've been doing the same thing. So quite a few years now. The whole day is structured the same. So, I wanted to just give it a chance, but mainly it was the pressure applied.
What kind of preparations / homework have you done before entering the show?
By saying that you mean absolute reverse! You are right. I have done no homework or research; I still don't know the names of the contestants. And what if I don't remember the names, I'm worried about that. Because at my age I forget everything fast.
How will you play your game inside the house?
This is what I had been telling everybody. I will take the first day, then I will survive that. Then the second day, and then hopefully, just have a little fun along the way. But I've got no pressure. I'm one of the lower seeds, the pressures on some of the other flamboyant names. That way, I'm fine.
In your opinion, what does it take to be the ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’ winner?
I think there's a lot of luck involved. You got to ‘pataao’ the audience. The thing is that it’s an extremely popular show in foreign countries as well. God knows how you can ‘pataao’ so many people at the same time. But I am not going to try to please everyone. You can't please everyone at the same time. I'm just going to be myself and that works fine. I'll just do my best to be myself and have a good time.
What will be your strategy to avoid ‘Bigg Boss’ eliminations?
I will have to learn as we go along because I don't know whether it's necessary to be that manipulative or political. But maybe I'm being innocent and don't know what it really is. But I'll see as it goes along. Further, I need to find a friend rather than an enemy. Once you find a friend you can make him an enemy later in your desire to stay, but we'll just see.
What do you think about the rumour that the ‘Bigg Boss’ is scripted?
Let me tell you that, I am here on an investigative mission to find out whether that is true!
Are you nervous about the game?
I am not nervous about the game. But I'm nervous about leaving my home. My mother is old, my wife and kids are here. My dad is not there anymore. I feel a little fear. I haven’t done anything like this for so long. And, what if the audience starts liking me! Because they were not paying attention, I will land up lasting for five to six weeks. That's a long time! I am missing my dogs already!
Meeting people has always been your bread and butter. This time round, are you excited to meet other participants in the ‘Bigg Boss OTT 2’ house?
I think most of them are much younger than me. So, it'd be great fun initially, at least. We will see how it goes after that.
Any specific celebrity whom you would want to like to see inside the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house?
I had asked for Amitabh, Shah Rukh and all. But they (the show’s makers) firmly said NO!
What are the things that you are planning to carry inside the Bigg Boss OTT 2 house?
I want to carry my supplements. Because, at my age, I need to take all kinds of things, protein shake, pre workout and stuff like that.
Who do you think makes for a better host for Bigg Boss OTT 2? Is it Salman Khan or Karan Johar?
I will give you a diplomatic answer. Karan is fantastic, but Salman Khan is on a different level! He is still batting even at this age!
What, in your opinion, are the qualities that you have that will make you a winner?
I will become a winner if it's an accident. And, by accident, I mean by not paying attention and not being extremely competitive. If you're able to get through round after round, there is a bit of an accident I suppose. So, let's see. Karma bhi ek cheez hai!
And before we wrap up, can I just ask you are you short tempered?
I'm quick tempered. I get angry fast, but I also cool down very fast. I don't have any grudges. I'm not the kind of guy who fights with another person and doesn't talk. The anger gets over for me in just one second.
