Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5 contestant Aniyan Midhun apologised on the show, after his comments related to an Indian Army officer drew widespread criticism. This comes after its host Mohanlal also expressed displeasure at Midhun’s comparisons and called him out for fabricating the story.

During a weekly task, Midhun had revealed that he was in love with a para commando named Sana and had even visited her at the Army camp. However, the officer was shot dead during a mission and during the funeral, where she was covered with the Indian flag, he had hugged her body and cried, Midhun had revealed.

However, Mohanlal said that Midhun’s claims were false as there was no one named Sana in the paramilitary force. This had led to a lot of fans of the show, taking to their social media pages to vent out their anger and Mohanlal, who is a lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army of India, had even questioned Midhun, who stood by his story. Director Major Ravi also said that he felt Midhun’s comments were an insult to the women soldiers of India.

The previous day, Midhun seems to have understood the implications of his false story and apologised to the audience as well as the Indian Army after Mohanlal had asked all contestants, whose names were up for eviction, if they had any last words.

Midhun said that he wanted to stay in Bigg Boss house, but would want to leave, considering what happened in the previous episode. “I have lost the good vibe I had here. I want to apologise to everyone. Bigg Boss, Asianet, Lalettan, audience, those who love me and the massive force of Indian Army, I am sorry,” he said, adding that he wanted to apologise on the same stage.

Midhun, a Wushu practitioner, said that he shouldn’t have fabricated the story and wasn’t justifying his actions with the apology. “I know how shameful this is,” added the contestant, who extended his stint on the show by another week.
