When the Bigg Boss Kannada OTT got underway earlier this year, it didn't take long for Rakesh Adiga to emerge as a fan favourite. The apparent earnestness and honesty in his demeanour, combined with his flair for wordplay and impromptu rap, won him admirers almost instantly and soon enough the Rakesh Adiga Tribe was born on social media. The same tribe stood by him throughout his OTT stint and only grew in size during his long and testing 100-day journey in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9.
And although Rakesh did manage to live up to the expectations and finish the competition as the first runner-up, his ardent fans and netizens are of the opinion that he deserved better. "This is not fair, real winner is Rakesh Adiga," wrote a social media user on Instagram, echoing the sentiments of several others who feel that the actor/rapper should have been voted the winner instead of Roopesh Shetty.
"Well deserved rakesh adiga 馃槩rakesh adiga is most deserved because bigg boss vekthi ata alla vekthithvada ata adralli yellarigintha rakesh adiga munde edru but this 馃ズ馃ズ" wrote another user, opining that Bigg Boss isn't a test of the person but their personality and Rakesh Adiga boasted the best personality in the competition. In the same manner, comments similar to "Raki deserves more than Roopesh" have been flowing in on social media following the grand finale results.
Rakesh Adiga was highly regarded not just by the viewers but also by his fellow contestants who reckoned that his "game" was the most honest and sensible one, often praising him for his level-headed and straightforward approach. Alongside, his talent as a wordsmith/rapper too helped him grow further in stature as a contender.
Rakesh and Roopesh were pitted against one another right from the beginning with the latter boasting a slight edge over the former in terms of votes. Though the two remained on the best of terms, their respective fans would often indulge in quibbles and banter with one another, amplifying the drama.
