The season 9 of Bigg Boss Kannada has come to a fitting end as the new champion gets crowned amid all the fanfare. After 100 long and eventful days, Mangaluru's own Roopesh Shetty has emerged the winner by defeating Rakesh Adiga, Deepika Das, Rupesh Rajanna, and 14 other contestants in his pursuits. Roopesh's Bigg Boss Kannada OTT buddy Rakesh fell short of the feat by a few votes and ended his run as the first runner up.

Both Rakesh and Roopesh were touted as the most favoured contenders to win the competition, since the season 9 got underway back in September, 2022. Prior to season 9, Roopesh Shetty had emerged as the winner of the OTT edition with most votes with Rakesh finishing second.

Popular TV actress Deepika Das was voted the second runner up with Rupesh Rajanna finishing as the third runner up. Although Deepika Das could not win the competition, the result should still please her considering she finished the fourth runner up in previous stint. For Rupesh Rajanna, who had a rather shaky start to his Bigg Boss journey, the final result would certainly seem encouraging. He took home a cash prize of Rs. 3 Lakhs.

The grand finale was a two-day affair with the first episode, which aired on Friday, December 30, seeing Divya Uruduga getting eliminated. The second finale night was a star-studded one with many glitzy dance performances by Sanjana Anand, Amulya Gowda, and many others.

The season 9 featured a special format wherein the 18 contestants were divided into two groups of equal strength as veterans, or praveenaru, and newbies, or naveenaru. The Praveenaru group consisted of many popular ex Bigg Boss contestants such as Arun Sagar, Prashanth Sambargi and Saanya Iyer while Mayuri Kyatari, Amulya Gowda, Vinod Gobbaragala, and others formed the Naveenaru group.
