Mandana Karimi rose to fame with her Bigg Boss 9 stint. She is one of the contestants of the Salman Khan-hosted reality show. After doing Bigg Boss, she made her Bollywood debut with Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Roy in 2015. She featured in a couple of films like Bhaag Johnny, Kya Kool Hai Hum 3, and more. In a recent interview, Mandana opened up about the reason she chose to quit acting. Her last acting project was Thar in 2022 and a reality show Lock Upp.

Mandana Karimi has now shifted her focus to academia. The former actress studied interior design and is actively working in the same field. She also works as a visiting professor at several institutes. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Mandana said she became a model at a young age as she had to support herself. However, the actress always missed the fact that she couldn't go back to school.

"One of my friends owns an interior design firm and he asked if I want to see what they do. When I explored the field, I started enjoying it," said Mandana. The former actress further revealed why she quit showbiz. "Acting was a job that I never loved, nor this industry. I am grateful for the time I spent there, but it wasn't something I was hungry for or crazy about," she added.
After completing a year-long course in interior design, the actress hasn't been taking up any modeling or acting offers. Mandana admitted that it is hard to say 'no' to money. That said, she has casting director friends who call her for auditions. However, she can't devote a lot of time.
"I have projects, events, and my school that I'm focused on currently. I now finish my work in office, then come home, and go to school. My life has changed so much. But I'm loving it," shared Karimi.

On the work front, Mandana Karimi did films like Roy, Bhaag Johnny, Main Aur Charles, and Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 in Bollywood. The actress' last film was Thar, which was released on Netflix. As far as her show Bigg Boss 9 is concerned, the episodes are available for streaming on JioCinema and OTTplay Premium.
