Bigg Boss 17 premiere promo: Lock Upp winner Munawar Faruqui joins Salman Khan’s show, host asks him to shut up

Bigg Boss 17 will commence in just a few hours from now. The makers have been revealing about the contestants slowly. One of them happens to be Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp winner, Munawar Faruqui. The makers have released the promo of Munawar’s introduction on the Bigg Boss 17 stage with Salman Khan.

Salman Khan introduced Munawar to the stage in a unique way. He kept performers around and said a shayari, Munawar style. “Ab tak karte aaye ho stand up. Weekend par jab main aau, toh karna shut up,” the actor-host mentioned. Salman further took Munawar’s hand and gave him hopes of being a winner of the show.

Munawar’s association with reality shows

Munawar became associated with reality shows through his stint on Kangana Ranaut-Ekta Kapoor’s Lock Upp. The show had streamed on MX Player and AltBalaji. It was about controversial contestants being locked up in one house and receiving punishments for disobeying the rules. Munawar was among the entertainers on the show and had almost formed a group with his members of the blue team. Munawar was often teased with Anjali Arora on the show, through MunJali fans. He however clarified that he has no such intentions towards her and that they both have partners outside of the show, whom they even made official soon after the show ended.

After becoming the winner of Lock Upp, Munawar was offered Rohit Shetty’s Khatron Ke Khiladi. That would have marked his entry with the channel hosting Bigg Boss. However, things did not materialize and he had to wait for Bigg Boss OTT 2 to get over so that he could participate on the TV version of the show.

Munawar is a stand-up comedian who got into a controversy over a mention of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. He was accused of hurting Hindu sentiments and many of his shows got cancelled due to the same reason.

Meanwhile, Bigg Boss 17 is set to introduce contestants from all genres and countries too. The wait will be over at 9 pm today, when the contestants will finally appear on the show.
